HCC's core values are: compassion, integrity, respect, safety and sensitivity.  Compassion, in providing the highest level of care by being present through active listening and doing so with an open heart.  Integrity, in being honest and truthful to build trust.  Respect, to treat every person with dignity and meet them where they are at in life.  Safety, to provide an environment where confidentiality is ensured.   Sensitivity, to welcome vulnerability for transformation.

Hello, I am Jennifer Sherwood, founder of Hart Core Counseling.  My background includes being a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Peace Corps and a graduate from both the University of Washington and Chapman University.

My theoretical framework is based off of Virginia Satir.  Satir's model is an energetic connection that based the ideology that everyone at their core is innately good and whole.  By connecting to the core of our being, is when real growth and transformation can take place by accessing new awareness.

This new awareness can help us own our power and be more responsible for our thoughts, beliefs, actions and behaviors toward ourselves and others.  When we choose to participate in our growth, we get to create new ways of being, which is reflected back in every aspect of our life.

It is this shift of self discovery from the inner core that can help facilitate self-esteem, self-acceptance, self-love and self-compassion.  When a healthy way of relating to oneself is established and love is found from within, the automatic reactions and old belief systems are then replaced with coping tools that emulate the new self-love behaviors.  You will begin to exhibit behaviors of cooperation instead of competition, compassion instead of shame, celebration of strengths instead of finding faults, freedom instead of a need to control, inner peace instead of turmoil, love instead of fear, trust instead of doubt, forgiveness instead of blaming yourself and your loved ones.  This metamorphosis influences others to change their behavior toward you as well and creates more of a harmonious environment in the marriage and family system.

I am so excited to serve your self-evolution by providing a safe environment to talk, respect to where you are at in your life, sensitivity of your situation, compassion with a listening ear and integrity with an open heart in the counseling process to help facilitate your transformation back to the core of your heart.

When I am not serving you, I enjoy tending my flower garden and spending time in and around beautiful Puget Sound, Washington.  With my vacation time, I love to travel and see the world while enjoying my hobby of photography.
